The Simpson College speech team turned in a second-place performance at the 2020 Jack Lynch Invitational Nov. 7. In the tournament hosted by Amherst College in Massachusetts, Simpson took second place out of 19 colleges and universities.

Simpson College speech and debate collects tournament win at Central Missouri
The Simpson College speech and debate team turned in a winning performance at the 2020 Missouri Mule tournament Oct. 16-17. In the tournament hosted by the University of Central Missouri, Simpson took first place in the debate team sweepstakes Friday before capturing third place in the individual event sweepstakes Saturday.

Simpson College speech and debate wins Derryberry Season Opener
The Simpson College speech and debate team won the virtual Southwest Baptist University Derryberry Season Opener tournament Oct. 2-3, besting a field of 21 colleges and universities from across the country. Simpson was also named the top Pi Kappa Delta chapter at the tournament.

Paige Bendt-Wake Chosen To Present Innovative New Research On Gaslighting At Richard Macksey National Undergraduate Humanities Research Symposium
Simpson College (simpson.edu) senior Paige Bendt-Wake is among a select group of college students chosen to present research at the inaugural Richard Macksey National Undergraduate Humanities Research Symposium hosted by Johns Hopkins University. She will present her research on the topic of self-gaslighting as it relates to sexual assault. Due to COVID-19, this year's symposium has been moved to an online format to be completed by the end of April.

Simpson College students named Principal Scholars
Simpson College (simpson.edu) students Mary Hendon, Alyssa Pingel, Hattie Rhodes and Mikayla Vander Heiden have been named Principal Scholars for the 2020-21 academic year. Scholarship recipients receive $5,000 from Principal and mentorship from a Principal employee. Scholarship funds are designated for students majoring in fields related to STEM or accounting and are part of the Principal Talent-Focused Higher Education Grant.

Simpson College (simpson.edu) announced its graduating class for the students who completed their degree requirements at the conclusion of the Spring 2020 semester. The annual commencement ceremony was postponed due to COVID-19 and is scheduled to take place Oct. 17, 2020, as part of Homecoming & Family Weekend.

Simpson College Student Kathryn Hays Chosen to Present at Posters on the Hill in Washington D.C.
Simpson College, (simpson.edu) senior Kathryn Hays has been chosen to present her research at the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) Posters on the Hill event. Selected from a nationwide pool of applicants, Hays' research focuses on disinformation campaigns from foreign governments and how they affect different electoral systems.
